Original plans for the Center for Freedom and Flight were for a museum to be built on an 11-acre Heritage site at Travis Air Force Base, but after commitment restraints, a new location was found on a 10-acre parcel at the Nut Tree Airport in Vacaville, CA.
With our Board of Directors, CFF has been steadily growing and moving towards our new mission you see today. Originally called The Jimmy Doolittle Center where we worked hand in hand with members of the Doolittle Family, we transitioned to The American Center for Aviation and Freedom (ACAAF). But we still felt like we were missing something.
In 2017, we rebranded to the Center for Freedom and Flight, and with our new mission statement, finally felt we found our identity.
“Aviation is proof that given the will, we have the capacity to achieve the impossible.”
